P2P lending grew by 150% in 2013
At the end of 2013 there was approximately £207million invested in peer-to-peer loans. By the end of 2014 this has risen to approximately £525million. This represents a 154% increase. While there are lots of different statistics that can be presented, we believe this is the most important metric as it shows the increase in funds invested in the peer-to-peer sector. On a similar note the industry is expected to break the £1billion barrier - in terms of loans arranged - in the middle of February.
The P2P money website also publishes the size of the peer-to-peer providers by loans arranged and outstanding capital. There have been some significant changes since last month, with LendInvest moving up to #6 and Wellesley & Co. moving up to #8. The top five companies are also members of the P2P Finance Association.
